BRIG OWENS

BRIG OWENS, Esq. is the incumbent Chairman of the AUDF, more popularly known as the Founder and Chairman of the Super Leaders Inc. , a youth leadership, mentoring and drug-prevention program established in 1985 which has benefited 22,000 students across Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia.

A partner of the Bennett & Owens, a sports management and real estate development firm, he is also Board Member of the National Council for Educational and Human Development of the George Washington University and the Venture Philanthropy Partners.

A lawyer by profession, Chairman Owens graduated from the University of Cincinnati, attended the Antioch School of Law, and received his Juris Doctor from the Potomac School of Law. He started his football career with the Washington Redskins in 1966 where he played for 12 years as defensive back and defensive captain. Holder of track records, he was cited as one of the best players of the team.

Chairman Owens has been honored by the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America (CADCA) for having demonstrated his own personal commitment to helping the youth and preventing substance abuse. He created the Professional Athletes Youth Foundation and Community Service Department of the NFLPA where he raised over $10 million to implement a youth development program in ten cities across the United States. This program was later recognized by the US Department of Education as one outstanding youth program.

He previously served as vice president, trustee and board member of the Leukemia Society, Lombardi Foundation, NFL Players Agent Advisory Board, University of Cincinnati Presidents Executive Council and the National Board of Medical Examiners. He was one of six recipients of the NCAA Silver Anniversary Award in 1990 for his commitment to the community.
